Willodean Stills

December 3, 1927 ~ June 27, 2017 (age 89)

Willodean Huckabee Stills, 89, of Caldwell passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Meridian St. Luke's Hospital.  Willodean was born to William and Estelle (Sutterfield) Huckabee in Leslie, Arkansas on December 3, 1927.

Willodean met and married Dale Stills on January 8, 1946.  Together they raised 3 sons; Larry, Jerry and Montie, in Arkansas and eventually moving to Idaho to better their family.  Willodean wore her titles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend proudly each and every day of her life.  Her love for the Lord and her family were the paramount of her life and always came in front of everything, including herself.  Spending her days cleaning and cooking while her boys were young were the most special days of her life.  That is where her heart was, with her boys.  Most of her working days were spent at The College of Idaho cleaning.  She took great pride in her work. She spoke of her time there as if she owned the college herself.  Nothing was clean unless she cleaned it herself.   This was true until her last days.

After retiring, Willodean took different part time jobs and cared for her husband Dale until he passed.  After her role as wife had come to an end her roles of mother, grandmother and sister became the focus.  She worked at the Caldwell Senior Center and with her church and most of all worried and did all she could for her 3 boys.  Willodean was often found caring for friends and family as they their health declined.   She was the ultimate caregiver.  She even started babysitting in her late 70s.   What a sight.  A little old lady with a baby car seat on the way to the Senior Center or to the train tracks.  As Willodean’s aged advanced and took a toll on her it became time for her 3 sons to take care of her.  With family support she was able to live independently until January of 2015.  Willodean spent time at Autumn Winds and then moved on to Ashley Manor in Middleton.  Even while living at facilities she would still be heard asking “How can I help you?” or cleaning.

Willodean is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, all of her siblings, one grandson, and one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.  She is survived by her sons: Larry (Sherrill) Stills of Wilder, Jerry (Connie) Stills of Middleton and Montie (Kristel) Stills of Caldwell, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  Graveside services on Friday, June 30, 2017, 12:00pm at Wilder Cemetery, Jerry Goedhart officiating, lunch to follow at the Free Holiness Church Annex 503 Prince Ave., Wilder, Idaho.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Ashley Manor of Middleton, Dr. Schulte of Meridian St. Luke's and her nurse Taffney.
