Always wanting to be the provider, Bill joined the Navy at age 16, to help his mother support their family after the death of his father. Early in his career, Bill met Frances at a bus stop in Washington, DC and it was love at first sight. In late 1949, Kenneth was born and a couple of years later, Patricia arrived on the scene, completing their family.

Bill traveled the world and served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam.  His naval career encompassed 22 years before he retired as a 1st Class Petty Officer. Bill continued to provide for his family, using his Naval training, working for Sandia Corp in Albuq., NM and then at the Nevada Test Site. Upon retirement, he and Frances moved to Caldwell, ID.
