Vickie Ann (Varnadoe) EricksonJune 27, 1956 ~ July 28, 2017 (age 61)
Vickie Ann (Varnadoe) Erickson, 61, passed away after a short illness on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Overland Court Senior Living, where she was surrounded by her loving family. Vickie was the second child of parents James E. and Patricia (Lilly) Varnadoe. Her birth on June 27, 1956, was at Ashiya AFB in Kyushu, Japan, where her father was stationed. Shortly after her birth, she traveled by troopship with her parents and brother David to Seattle, WA, and from there to Rome, NY, the second of the many homes where her father's 30-year Air Force career would take them.
After stays in New York, Alabama and Hawaii, her longest tenure was in Sunnyvale, CA, where she graduated from Fremont High School. By this time brother Jim Jr. (Bo), and sisters Valerie and Debbie joined the family. When Col. Varnadoe retired and moved his family to Eagle, ID, Vickie remained in Sunnyvale where she worked as a technician at an electronic chip manufacturing facility for a year before joining her family in Idaho. At this point she proudly stood before a judge in Boise and was confirmed an American citizen, noted as a child born in a foreign country to American parents.
In Idaho, Vickie met the love of her life, Dennis Erickson. They were married on May 23, 1989, a happy union that lasted until Dennis's death on Sept. 12, 2015. Dennis's roofing business carried them to several cities in California before settling permanently in Caldwell, ID where she resided until her death. She and Dennis enjoyed fishing trips, family gatherings and NASCAR. She later admitted that she really wasn't a racing fan, but she watched with him anyway. At the passing of her grandfather, Alvin Varnadoe, Vickie and Dennis took her grandmother, Jane, into their home, which was much appreciated by both a happy grandmother and the rest of the family.
Vickie is survived by her son Eric Danderand; father, James E. Varnadoe; brothers: David and James Varnadoe; sisters: Valerie Compton and Debbie Palmer (Kevin); and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Erickson, her mother Patricia Varnadoe, grandparents: Alvin and Jane Varnadoe and Herbert and Beatrice Lilly.
Cremation was under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 459-0833. Vickie and Dennis will be scattered together at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staffs of West Valley Medical Center and Overland Court Senior Living for their kindness and care shown to Vickie.
