Mildred was born December 26, 1918 in Ord, NE, the third child of Fred and Mary (Trojan) Krajnik. At a young age Mildred moved with the family to Idaho where she and her siblings were raised on the family farm south of Nampa. After graduating from Nampa High School, Mildred attended Boise Business College and then later worked for the Civil Service Administration in Pocatello, ID. While in Pocatello, she met her future husband Francis Murray who was there serving in the Air Force at the time.
Mildred and Fran were married and had their first son Tom in 1943. It would be 12 years before son Dennis would join the family in 1955. Residing in Caldwell for many years, Mildred worked side-by-side with Fran, running the family business “Murray’s Used Truck Parts”. Francis and Mildred were married for 61 years and after Fran’s passing in 2004, Mildred moved to Nampa, living independently until age 94. She then became a resident at Grace Assisted Living where she made new friends and was well taken care of for the remainder of her years.
Family and friends will remember her for her beautiful smile and her sweet giggle. Just days before her passing, she happily reminisced about her younger days and reflected on her Jitterbug dancing abilities, telling us all she was “quite good”. Her family will retain fond memories of her most precious creations including home-made crème puffs, caramel popcorn balls and her deviled eggs.
Surviving Mildred is her son Tom (Janeal) Murray; grandchildren: Tim (Erin) Murray, Toni (Rod Shannon) Murray and Tom (Sarah) Murray; and their mother Lois Murray; great-grandchildren: Josephine Murray, T.J. Murray and Baylee Wheeler; brothers: Ed (Orveta) Krajnik and Jerry (LuDean) Krajnik; sister Betty Nichols, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including her very special niece Mary Christon.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Francis Murray; son Dennis “Moose” Murray; sisters Lydia Caldwell, Rosie Doramus and Alice Krajnik; her brother Lynn Krajnik, as well as her feisty little dog Champ.
The family would like to thank the staff of First Choice Home Health and Hospice and Grace Assisted Living for the compassionate care they provided during her last few days. While are hearts are heavy with loss, we are at peace knowing that our mother and grandmother has been reunited with the loved ones she so desperately missed over the years.
