Elden LeRoy WaltmanJanuary 5, 1931 ~ August 18, 2017 (age 86)
On Aug. 18, 2017, Elden LeRoy Waltman, passed away peacefully at home with family members by his side, thanks to the care and compassion of Kelli and the staff at Canyon Home Care and Hospice.
Elden was born in Nampa, ID on Jan. 5, 1931 to Virgil and Almeda Waltman. His mother, Almeda, passed away when Elden was young. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Frank and Iva Kuehn, of Nampa, ID, where he attended school. He married Phyllis Ann Gepner in 1950 in Winnemucca, NV and they settled in Caldwell to raise their family. Elden began working for Darwin Feller of Feller Trucking in Caldwell in 1953 where he dedicated 49 years of his life until retirement in 2002. For many years he hauled milk from Marsing to the Caldwell creamery as well as produce and potatoes. In his final years with Feller, he worked in the shop fabricating trailers.
Elden had a love for nature, keeping a pristine yard and feeding and caring for the local wildlife around his home. He also enjoyed metal fabrication, with one of his favorites being the Bare Back Rider on the gates at the Caldwell Night Rodeo grounds, in Caldwell.
Elden is preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Donald Waltman, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Waltman; brother, Richard Waltman and sister, Faye Sturgess, both of Nampa, ID; his children: John and Pam Waltman of Marsing, ID, Susan and Rick Jones of Gresham, OR, Darwin and Peg Waltman of Caldwell, ID and Todd and RayAnn Waltman of Forest Hills, CA as well as 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Bressler and his staff for their excellent care and service and to all, for the prayers prayed over this family.
A graveside service for Elden will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, ID. Condolences may be given at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
