Josephine (Sandoval) Hugo, 88 years old of Wilder, ID lived a full life.  After suffering many years with Alzheimer's dementia, she went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2017.  Her life encompassed living over 50 years in her beloved home in Wilder and had recently spent the remainder of her days in Meridian, ID.

Josephine was born the seventh child of ten to Joaquin & Ascencion Sandoval on May 2, 1929, in San Mateo, NM and she spent most of her childhood growing up in Grants, NM.  As a young woman she fell madly in love with a handsome Filipino man named Delfin “Felix” Hugo and they were married on February 26, 1945.  Felix was a farming contractor at the time, which took them to travel to regions in the western part of the United States.  Their journey was chronicled with other Filipino families in the Cibola Beacon News (a local New Mexico newspaper) on August 30, 2016 which featured an article entitled “Filipinos, The Ghost Workers in the Fields”.   They traveled for many years between New Mexico, Arizona and Idaho, and eventually settled down in the small rural farming community of Wilder, ID in 1952.  They had eight children: Delfin Jr., Alex, Jim, Kathy, Christine, Richard and Joe (twin to Jim) and Mildred who both died as infants.  After 51 years of marriage, her husband Felix passed away in 1996 at the age of 91.

Josephine is survived by her older sister, Mable Sarceda of Phoenix, AZ; her younger sister, Priscilla Salazar of Farmington, NM; her sons: Delfin Jr. Hugo, Alex Hugo and Richard Hugo of Idaho; her daughters: Kathy Hugo of Arizona and Christine Hugo of Idaho as well as 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix, her children: Joe, Mildred and Jim; her brothers: Tony and Ben Sandoval and sisters: Seniada Montano, Maggie Candelaria and Eva Chavez.

Josephine will be sorely missed & cherished by her family. She will always be remembered as the “Girl with the Million Dollar Smile.”
