Charles RobertsJuly 27, 1929 ~ September 24, 2017 (age 88)
Charles Roberts, 88, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2017 at Life Care Center of Boise. Chuck was born on July 27, 1929 in Eagle, Idaho to Virgil and Ida Roberts. He grew up on a small farm in Eagle. At the age of 17, Charles joined the military, enlisting in the Army Air Corps at the end of WWII; where he served as an aircraft mechanic. Charles’ military career continued during the Korean War where he served in the Marine Corp as a crew chief on a RSD Aircraft and was shipped to Korea. Upon returning from his military tour overseas, Chuck met Joanne Breshears. They were married in the spring of 1959. They were married for 58 years, and spent a lifetime building their family. Chuck and Joanne raised 5 children, Nicki, Linda, John, Sandy, and Ronald. During these years Chuck worked as a diesel mechanic.
When Chuck wasn’t working, he loved being in the great outdoors. His love of the outdoors and adventure was passed on to all his children and grandkids as well. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his sons John and Ron, and his grandchildren up in the mountains of Idaho. They shared many amazing adventures together over the years, and he had many incredible stories of their trips in the mountains, and fishing the beautiful lakes and rivers of Idaho. He enjoyed spending time with his family at holiday gatherings, or just sitting and visiting on a Sunday afternoon sharing a slice of pizza or a root beer float; catching up on whatever might be going on in their life. Charles was on amazing man that passed on his love of life to each member of his family. Each family member has their own special memories of a time spent together, a joke a laugh or a moment shared with this amazing man.
Another passion that Charles had was flying. Charles was a very skilled pilot. Whether it be a super cub or a sailplane, being in the sky was where Chuck loved to be. Chuck was a meticulous craftsman. This would be another passion that he passed on to his family. After retiring he enjoyed going to the airport, and helping build airplanes with his son John. Chuck loved his family. His grandchildren were a great joy to him. Helping raise them in their younger years and watching them grow up into the wonderful adults that they’ve become.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Joanne, his parents Virgil and Ida, his brothers, Donald, John, Lewis, his sisters, Virgie, Marjorie, and Vivian. Charles is survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Roberts of Alaska; daughter Nicki (Bill Kelly) of Mountain Home, daughter Linda (Rod Wynia) of Middleton; son John Roberts (Beverly) of Middleton, daughter Sandy Roberts of Boise and son Ron Roberts of Nampa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
